With Google’s watch set to launch in 2024 next month, the Pixel Watch 3 has arrived at the Federal Communications Commission for regulatory approval.
Four model numbers showed up with the regulator on Sunday. This is the Pixel Watch 3 — not the Pixel 9 — because the steps to access the FCC electronic mark are the same as Google’s current Wear OS devices: Settings > System > Regulatory information.
All four Pixel Watch 3 models support Ultra-Wideband and 5GHz Wi-Fi, and we reported in March that Google was working on using UWB to improve the Watch Unlock feature on Pixel phones.
Meanwhile, the first and second generation Pixel Watch only support 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz. We expect 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax this year.
Half of them have LTE connectivity, while the other two only have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
The GBDU9 and GG3HH have been tested with a total of eight bands, while only five bands have been reported for the GGE4J and GRY0E. This could point to a split between the expected 41mm and 45mm sizes. Last year, Google revealed the band types in its Pixel Watch 2 FCC filing. That won’t be the case in 2024.
