The June feature continues to be rolled out through a series of app updates. Pixel Camera 9.4 brings a manual lens section to the Pixel 6/7 Pro and Fold, among other tweaks.
Like the Pixel 8 Pro, Google’s other two premium foldable phones now let you choose one of three rear lenses to take the photo. Tap the settings gear in the bottom-right corner (or swipe up) for photo settings. You will find a new “Pro” tab next to “General” with lens selection: Auto or Manual.
(Despite the tab’s name, these are not the “Pro Controls” offered on the Pixel 8 Pro that let you adjust focus, shutter speed, and ISO.)
The zoom dial above the shutter button is replaced by Ultra Wide, Wide, and Telephoto. Pinch in/out to zoom in when this manual mode is enabled. Google will default to W when you open the app later.
Pixel 7 Pro
Another change is that Pixel Camera has moved the RAW/JPEG picker to the Pro tab. It was previously buried in Settings > Advanced options. This makes switching much easier when you want to edit your shot professionally later. Compared to the 8 Pro, you don’t get a resolution preference: 12MP or 50MP.
This update should bring improved frame selection for HDR+ to the Pixel 6+, including the foldable and tablet:
HDR+ is now even better at identifying the best moment of your HDR+ photo with just the push of a button. It’s smarter about the key frame it chooses to produce the combined multi-frame image, considering criteria like open eyes and smiling subjects.
Version 9.4.103.641377609.23 The Pixel Camera app is still a work in progress Via Play Store. It joins the adjacent app with June features and server-side updates in recent days:
As of Friday, Android 14 QPR3 has not yet been widely rolled out.
