Riley Keough’s First Red Carpet Since Lisa Marie Presley’s Death – The Hollywood Reporter

Riley Keough was in Hollywood Thursday night for the world premiere of her new TV series, Prime Video, Daisy Jones and the Six, which is her first red carpet appearance since the sudden death of her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, on January 12. The scene was quiet, too, with the TCL Chinese Theater packed with guests dressed to match the glitzy ’70s dress code while Keough and her co-stars were bolstered by a production that included Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon.

Keough, who wears Schiaparelli Couture and is accompanied by husband Ben Smith-Petersen, fronts the series as Daisy Jones, the co-singer of a 1970s rock band. Based on the bestselling Taylor Jenkins novel, Reed. Daisy Jones and the Six Details that band’s rise and rapid fall, from the early days toiling away at small gigs through the meteoric rise that culminated in a sold-out show at Soldier Field in Chicago. After this performance, the band shocked fans by calling it quits. Q stars opposite Sam Claflin, Camila Morrone, Will Harrison, Suki Waterhouse, Josh Whitehouse, Sebastien Chacon, Nabiah B, Tom Wright and Timothy Olyphant, among others.

In a short interview with Hollywood ReporterKeough was optimistic and expressed her excitement at being part of the Amazon Music Studios chain, going so far as to say that she knew she would be playing Daisy Jones before she even read a page.

“It’s really weird,” Keough explained, flanked by personal publicist and stylist Jamie Mizrahi. “I knew I wanted to play her before I knew what the book was about or even read the script or anything. I just heard the title and thought, ‘I’m going to play her.’ I just knew I was going to play her. It was the same feeling I had when I found out I was getting married.” from my husband.”

Daisy Jones asks a lot of Keo as a performer as she’s required to play in everything from dramatic moments in front of band members and recording executives to epic scenes of her stuff strutting across a stadium stage while hooked up to a microphone. As for how it fared, Keough was quick to “give all this credit” to the show’s “fantastic cast” featuring Tony Berg and Blake Mills.

“They were teaching us our songs, and we were in band camp,” explained Keough, whose family tree features one of the all-time great American rock stars in Elvis Presley. “They basically turned us into rock stars.”

que Daisy Jones and the Six The collaborators said they had a similar feeling about her while doing the show—they just knew it was her. Before Daisy Jones, credits include Keough Zola, The Terminal List, American Honey, The Girlfriend Experience, Mad Max: Fury Road, It Comes at Night And Lucky Loganamong others.

“I couldn’t say more highly about Riley Keough,” executive producer Brad Mendelsohn of Circle of Confusion praised. “She’s transformative on this show. When she auditioned for us, we didn’t look any further. It was Daisy Jones. Her reps called us and said she’d read the book, and she’s Daisy Jones. We all said, ‘Yeah, of course, let’s meet her.’ And we literally didn’t audition.” another person.”

Reid said that Kyo was the perfect choice for the character she created. What’s really gratifying is that she made everything look so easy, which I know isn’t easy. She carries a lot of these scenes and yet makes it look like it cost her absolutely nothing. It’s just who she is. I mean this honestly, I think she’s the one One of the most talented actresses of this generation,” said the bestselling author. “I know some actors had to learn to show off, and that seems to be in Riley’s DNA. What Riley has that can’t be taught is that she’s gorgeous. That’s not something anyone can fake. She’s just gorgeous.”

James Ponsoldt, who directed the first five episodes and serves as executive producer, said the series doesn’t work without the most talented cast, and that’s what they did with Keough and Claflin.

“The show doesn’t work if you don’t have someone who is dynamic, charismatic, and passionate, someone who can also be vulnerable in front of a lot of people. That’s what we look for in rock stars. We want someone who can be an ecstatic preacher, a shaman, a televangelist, someone who can get their heart out.” Those are the people we connect with, and Riley gets that – she really gets it. She and Sam ping-pong far from each other, and it’s really electric because they’re both lead singers. Lead singers are used to being the center of any conversation, and a lot of that revolves around Two people learning to swallow their egos, to listen to the person next to them and to try to get along to create something better than they could do on their own. They succeed at that.”
