Based on all the leaks, the main highlight of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is its larger Cover Display. While the Flip 4 has a 1.9-inch external display, the 2023 Flip foldable is rumored to have a massive 3.26-inch display. Rumors have it that you can’t run full apps on the Cover Screen, but Samsung and Google are said to be making better use of the extra screen space. Some of the renders also showed off the new stock cover widgets. Now, ahead of the phone’s launch on July 26, Samsung has updated the MultiStar Good Lock module with a cover tool for the Flip 5.
Good Lock’s MultiStar module allows you to customize many features related to multitasking on your Galaxy phone, such as multi-window screen zoom, ability to focus on both apps in multi-window mode, enable/disable popup view action, and more. Admittedly, the MultiStar cover widget on the Flip 5’s external screen isn’t likely to be all that useful. However, this update does indicate that Samsung is working on new cover widgets for the Flip 5. Presumably, even Google.
As a previously leaked marketing image showed, the Flip 5 will have widgets covering weather, boarding pass, calendar, call history, battery level of connected devices, and incoming messages. There may be other gadgets on display as well, and we can get to know them once Samsung officially unveils the Flip 5 along with other devices at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 26.
Motorola Razr+ is the other foldable model in the US that features a large cover display. And while you can’t run full-screen apps on its Cover Screen either, the Moto does offer a slew of customization options, and there are even games you can play on the Cover Screen. It will be interesting to see what features Samsung brings to the Flip 5 cover display for Moto’s solo effort.
You can download the latest update for MultiStar from file Galaxy store.
