Sonic Central Stream 2024: Everything Announced

Sega’s Sonic Central 2024 stream has now begun, and IGN has you covered with everything announced regarding Sonic the Hedgehog in 2025.

The livestream, which kicks off at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm UK time today, September 24, was only announced yesterday but promises to give fans a glimpse of what’s happening in the Sonic the Hedgehog world next year.

This is the fourth annual Sonic Central broadcast and it certainly looks like it will reveal a lot, as it has been confirmed that it will give a “sneak peek at some of the [Sega’s] Upcoming projects, partnerships and events through 2025.

Sonic Rumble Brings Battle Royale to Mobile and PC This Winter

Sega has announced that Sonic the Hedgehog battle royale game Sonic Rumble will be released for PC and mobile this winter.

The game was announced in May but no release date has been set, so that narrows down the options somewhat. Sonic Rumble features Fall Guys-style gameplay where 32 players, taking on the roles of various Sonic characters, compete for first place.

Just like Fall Guys and other games of the same genre, several game modes will task players with overcoming different colorful challenges with the constant risk of being kicked out.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble Gets Sonic and Shadow Balls Cosplay

Sega’s Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble is getting more Sonic DLC.

Today, players can roll around in giant balls inspired by Sonic and Shadow, and even play as everyone’s favorite hardcore hedgehog (the latter, not the former, of course).

The Sonic and Shadow ball skins are available for free on the Nintendo eShop, while the Shadow Costume is available as paid downloadable content but is also included in the Sega Pass.

Sonic gets motorcycle helmets and more

Sega announced a wide variety of Sonic the Hedgehog products during the show, including brick-building sets and a motorcycle helmet.

The brick-built sets include characters such as Sonic, Shadow, Rouge and Knuckles, while the motorcycle helmet is clearly inspired by Shadow.

A myriad of collectible figures have also been announced, including another character named Shadow the Hedgehog inspired by Sonic Generations.

Sonic is coming to a Topgolf near you

Sonic the Hedgehog has always enjoyed a daring run between fighting crime and collecting rings, but now fans can join him on the golf course at a Top Golf near them.

Sonic-themed golf courses will be available at virtual golf centers, allowing players to navigate through challenging obstacles and collect rings as they go.

No specific release date has been announced for the special courses, though Sega said they are “coming soon.”

Sonic teams up with DC to produce comic book series

Sonic the Hedgehog will be released by DC Comics. Starting in March 2025, Sega and DC will release a single issue per month of a special series combining the two franchises.

Not only will Sonic team up with the likes of Batman and Superman, but it’s also possible we’ll see him and his crew do so while disguised as each character.

Sega released a cast of main characters for the game, including Shadow as Batman, Knuckles as Superman, Amy as Wonder Woman, Sonic as Flash, Silver the Hedgehog as Green Lantern, and Tails as Cyborg.

Sonic x Shadow Generations Gets New Trailer

How many times has Sega talked about Sonic and Shadow? At least one more time! The publisher released a new trailer for the new Sonic x Shadows Generations game during the Sonic Central event.

The trailer showcases cinematic scenes and gameplay for the game, which is set to release on October 25, with a natural focus on Shadow’s powerful character. The trailer shows off a sort of time travel story as well as Shadow chasing Maria.

A large collector’s edition was also announced, which includes several additional products including a CD, a Sonic shoe keychain, and a Dreamcast statue of Shadow and Sonic atop a Sega Genesis.

Sonic x Shadow Generations Gets Prologue Anime in September

Sonic x Shadows Generations is set to arrive on October 25, but fans who are super excited for this release can enjoy a three-part anime prologue coming to YouTube ahead of schedule.

The first episode of Sonic x Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings arrives on September 25 and is titled Shadow and Maria.

This is followed by the second episode, Finding the Way, on October 3, and the third episode, To the Ark, on October 10. Those who pick up the game on PlayStation can enjoy an extended version of the episodes as well.
