The Honor Magic V2 will be too late to compete with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 in Europe

During IFA 2023 last week, the Chinese smartphone company announced that the Magic V2 will be launched “globally”. However, by launching globally, Honor means that the foldable phone will be launched in some countries in Asia, Europe and Latin America. But even then, it will be too late to compete with the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Honor Magic V2 specifications

The Honor Magic V2 features a slimmer (10.1mm) and lighter (231g) design, almost foldable inner display, and displays on the outside and inside. The Cover Screen is also much brighter at 2,500 nits. Both screens are stylus compatible. The foldable phone features the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage. However, the phone lacks an IPX8 water resistance rating.

The Magic V2 has a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide camera with autofocus, and a 20MP telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom. It has a 16MP front camera, but it can’t record 4K videos at 60fps like the Galaxy Z Fold 5. It can’t even record 8K videos with the primary camera. Its connectivity features are similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 5, except for UWB.

The Honor foldable phone has a much larger 5,000mAh battery that can charge at 66W. Despite all these advantages, if Honor falls behind in the launch timeframe, Samsung might be the one with the last laugh due to its better brand recognition, water resistance, and better software update support.
