A couple of months ago, Honor launched its feature-packed foldable phone – Magic V2 – in China. During IFA 2023 last week, the Chinese smartphone company announced that the Magic V2 will be launched “globally”. However, by launching globally, Honor means that the foldable phone will be launched in some countries in Asia, Europe and Latin America. But even then, it will be too late to compete with the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

that it being reported The Honor Magic V2 will be available in selected European markets sometime in the first quarter of 2024. That’s €300 cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold 5. However, by the time the Magic V2 launches, Samsung will likely have a lot of discounts on the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
The Honor Magic V2 won’t be much cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold 5 due to Samsung’s usual discounts. For your information, Honor has promised three Android OS updates for Magic V2, while Galaxy Z Fold 5 will get four major Android OS updates. Samsung also has much better design and software quality than Honor. The South Korean company also has a better after-sales service network and brand recognition in most countries of Asia, Europe and Latin America.
Honor Magic V2 specifications
The Honor Magic V2 features a slimmer (10.1mm) and lighter (231g) design, almost foldable inner display, and displays on the outside and inside. The Cover Screen is also much brighter at 2,500 nits. Both screens are stylus compatible. The foldable phone features the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage. However, the phone lacks an IPX8 water resistance rating.
The Magic V2 has a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide camera with autofocus, and a 20MP telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom. It has a 16MP front camera, but it can’t record 4K videos at 60fps like the Galaxy Z Fold 5. It can’t even record 8K videos with the primary camera.
