The latest Microsoft Teams AI trick cleans up and decorates your cluttered webcam background

Microsoft is adding two new AI-powered features to Teams soon that will improve your voice and webcam. The new Decorate Your Background feature is coming to Microsoft Teams Premium in early 2024 and uses global AI effects to clean up and replace background clutter when you’re on a video call.

Although Microsoft Teams has long offered a variety of virtual backgrounds, this decoration feature would work in a real-world room, just like the augmented reality filters you find on Snapchat. It can also add plants, lights, and seasonal objects to the background behind you. We’ll have to see how this works in reality, but if it works as well as the GIF below, it could be a good option for hiding your messy background and avoiding fake virtual backgrounds.

Microsoft will also add sound isolation to Teams later this year. “With sound isolation, Teams recognizes your voice and blocks out other noise to make sure you’re the only one heard on unscheduled calls and meetings,” Microsoft explains in a blog post. The AI ​​feature in Teams will recognize your voice after you register for the feature and can completely filter out other voices so that you are captured alone in a crowded café.
