The thinner OLED iPad Pro is just the beginning of a renewed effort by Apple to make increasingly thin computers. according to BloombergMark Gorman Per day employment the news. The company is planning a “significantly thinner” iPhone 17, and is also working to reduce some of the thickness of the MacBook Pro and Apple Watch, he writes.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the new ultra-thin iPhone 17 Slim the information Several supply chain analysts have reported that this phone is on its way, possibly at a higher price than the current iPhone 15 Pro Max. I haven’t seen any concrete rumors about it how It will be thin, but could have a 6.6-inch display and a smaller dynamic island.
It’s not surprising that the company would want to return to its pursuit of thinness, but the main difference now – hopefully – is that the company no longer seems to want to do so at any cost. This drive created some of the company’s most impressive devices, but it also probably led to curved iPhones, a limited selection of ports, poor battery life, thermal throttling issues, bad keyboards, and lawsuits for Apple itself. The company has begun to reverse that trend, and today, the iPhone 15 Pro and MacBook Pro lineup are among the thickest the company has launched in years.
I’ve welcomed these changes, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t sometimes miss that retro-futuristic feeling. I have an iPhone SE on my desk, and anytime I pick it up, I’m amazed at how great it is to use, despite the small screen and noisy processor. I also give envious looks at the iPhone 12 or 13 Minis when I see them.
Perhaps that time will return again, and without the costs that were previously associated with it. The current MacBook Air is incredibly thin — even more so than the smaller, fanless 12-inch MacBook — and yet it’s so powerful and battery-hungry that I feel perfectly comfortable taking it out of the house without a charger most of the time. I collect from David Pearce edge Reviewing the new iPad Pro, which is thinner than the iPod Nano, didn’t come with any major compromises that iPads didn’t already have.
These are encouraging signs that the company may have finally figured things out, and hopefully it won’t be throwing off its skis again. Because after the last few years, I’m not interested in returning to a life of skinny for the sake of skinny; Durability and all-day battery life are now non-negotiable.
