Who Says Festivals Are All Just About Pop And Rock?
Of course if someone says festival, we are all tempted to think of events such as Glastonbury or Reading, but what if we told you that there is a huge jazz fest coming up this weekend just a twenty minutes drive from Brighton?
This Friday, the Love Supreme Jazz Festival will return to Glynde Place, near Lewes, for three days of first class jazz, pop and soul performances, featuring over fifty different acts and bringing you everything festival lovers could wish for, camping included!
After the official ‘Vintage Remix’ opening party on Friday night, the festival’s five stages will see big names following one another throughout the weekend. No other than The Jacksons will headline the event on Saturday. Formerly known as The Jackson 5, they will celebrate their 50th anniversary at this year’s Love Supreme.
Other household names announced to perform at the festival’s fifth year include Herbie Hancock, Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington, Laura Mvula, NAO and Comet Is Coming. Sunday’s headliner will be multi-platinum-selling jazz musician Gregory Porter.
Coinciding with the centenary of the birth of Jazz legend Ella Fitzgerald, the festival will also host a number of themed events as well as some exclusive screenings of musician related documentaries such as Gregory Porter’s ‘Don’t Forget Your Music’. In addition, Chris Philips and Jez Nelson from Jazz FM will present a session of the popular London-based jazz night ‘Jazz In The Round’.
The Love Supreme runs from Friday, June 30, to Sunday, July 2, at Glynde Place, Glynde, East Sussex, BN8 6SX. Tickets are still available but selling fast.
