Xbox Game Pass Down – Live Updates on Outage

Refreshing

As of Saturday morning, the Xbox status page remains red, indicating that the Game Pass store and subscriptions are experiencing a major outage. The list of games available on Game Pass is also not available online, or some details may be missing from certain titles.

Shortly after 7:30 a.m. ET, the team posted a status update saying it was “taking longer than expected” to address the issue. No new updates have been posted to the official Xbox X account, which continues to direct inquiries to the status page.

For those affected, whether we will see a fix before the end of the week remains uncertain.

As of 5pm PT, Xbox Game Pass is still down. We haven’t heard any further news from any official Microsoft channels.

The Xbox status page remains red indicating that Game Pass is experiencing a major outage. The Xbox X support account continues to direct inquiries to the status page.

We’ve asked Microsoft spokespeople for more details but they have declined to respond since our initial emails.

It’s still unclear why Game Pass is experiencing issues. The CrowdStrike outage, as previously hypothesized, could be the cause of the cascading effect issues. Accounts trying to pay for an ongoing or new Game Pass subscription were experiencing issues sending payments between July 17 and July 19, the same time as the CrowdStrike outage.

Another theory is that it’s related to the price increase that will start in September due to a calendar or clock issue that’s affecting people’s ability to renew their subscriptions. Microsoft may not want anyone to buy new subscriptions and keep the old price.

I saw some X and Reddit users claiming that it was a Modern Warfare 3 hack yesterday. I couldn’t confirm that MW3 was hacked. It seems that the game or servers were experiencing an error code called “Detrick Guernsey” which also affected Modern Warfare 2, although this issue was on PC and not Xbox One.

We’re seeing reports that just like when Xbox Live goes offline, if you get disconnected from the internet, you should still be able to play games.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t help with any games picked up via Game Pass or some multiplayer games, which require the service to access.

The outage is still ongoing and for some people, we’ve gone close to 24 hours without access to Game Pass, meaning they haven’t been able to enjoy their Xbox games.

The PC version of Game Pass appears to be unaffected.

It’s also a busy week for multiplayer with the Modern Warfare 3 remake coming to Game Pass and the new Valorant beta also dropping today. Additionally, EA’s long-awaited College Football 25 launched last week and people are still looking forward to this excellent football game.

A Microsoft spokesperson reached out to us regarding the Game Pass outage. Unfortunately, they didn’t provide us with any further details beyond checking the status page.

We are working to resolve issues some members may be experiencing that are affecting game subscription renewals. Please visit https://xbox.com/status For status updates.”

It’s now 3pm Pacific and Game Pass is still experiencing issues. The outage report was pushed back to 5pm yesterday and it appears the fix is ongoing.

Otherwise, we see that the Game Pass outage could be global as people from all over the world are reporting issues on Twitter and Reddit.

No one from Xbox has officially said anything but the Xbox status page has received a small edit indicating that this Game Pass issue may extend beyond 24 hours.

Both the login issue and the game show issue now say that the first outage was reported at 9am today (July 26), which doesn’t seem true unless they consider last night’s issues to be something different.

The most interesting update is that it looks like the issue won’t be fixed until 5:55 AM tomorrow (July 27).

For those affected, you may have to wait overnight.

On Reddit, One Reddit user claims I spoke with Xbox support who claim to be working on a fix. They said they will send you an email with instructions and information on how to fix the subscription renewal issue.

We’ve reached out to Xbox for comment and will update if they respond. However, during the last outage, no one from Xbox was willing to provide an answer, so don’t expect one this time either.

Currently, the Game Pass outage has been ongoing for nearly 20 hours.

I’m seeing speculation from Xbox gamers that it seems to be related to the upcoming Game Pass price increase.

This increase is not officially supposed to go into effect until September 12, but Reddit users and X-users They claim that Xbox Support had to cancel their subscriptions and renew them but they are doing so at the higher price of $19.99 instead of the current cost of $16.99.

Reddit user Knaught said – “Yes, I just got through online support. I was 107th in line, waited an hour or so for them to fix the issue. They cancelled my subscription and signed me back up. The whole thing was so painful. Now my monthly billing day has been changed to where I want it to fall in the month. It’s hard to believe how stupid this whole thing is because of the greedy price hike. During support, I told them it was ridiculous that they didn’t acknowledge the issue to users. Later in the conversation they confirmed that they are now acknowledging the issue. They charged me $16.99 for the month and gave me some Xbox credit so my next bill will be $18.99, and it will only be $16.99.”

One of the error screens we keep seeing screenshots of is related to Game Pass extensions with the error telling players “You already own this.” It could be related to trying to extend through a price increase and the system blocking it, but that’s just speculation.

Game Pass is still experiencing some sort of outage.

It’s only a few days away from the major Crowdstrike outage that has affected businesses and government agencies around the world.

Some Reddit users are speculating whether or not the Crowdstrike downtime has a delayed effect on Xbox systems.

This may not be the cause, as the Crowdstrike issue was fixed earlier this week. However, the issue must be related to the clock or calendar within the Game Pass system. Several reports The data showed that accounts whose subscriptions expired between July 17 and July 19 have been stuck waiting for payment ever since.

The Crowdstrike outage began on July 19.

As of 3:20 PM ET, the Xbox status page still lists the Game Pass outage as a major issue with separate issues related to purchasing Game Pass and seeing Game Pass games still being affected.

Xbox has not released any information about a potential timeline for fixing the issues, other than to acknowledge that the outage is ongoing.
