One person has been killed, and one person is in custody after a shooting at Sonic Restaurant in Belen on Friday Belen Police Department Chief James Harris said the shooting occurred shortly after 7 p.m. He says officers were near the restaurant when the accident occurred and were on the scene in less than a minute. “It appears to be an ongoing family issue of sorts,” Harris said. “We believe that the shooter was actually in line for Sonic at that time (the time of the shooting).” Harris says he believes the suspect left the scene after the shooting but returned shortly thereafter. Then this person was arrested and the victim was identified as Elisa Swift Bird. The suspect’s name has not been released at this time.
