Exclusive: APA’s head of music, Bruce Solar, is among the few music agents to leave the agency. A solar alternative will be announced soon.
“Last year we added 21 agents including several who joined our touring department. The APA’s music/touring process is in transition. In addition to rapidly expanding with the hiring of top agents from ICM, CAA, and UTA bringing in over 200 artists, the division also upgraded six in February.
The departures come as writers strike as it approaches its fiftieth day. The APA laid off several of its aides last week. APA and Verve, which laid off most of its assistants and three agents, are also the two well-known agencies that have implemented temporary salary cuts for their top agents and executives.
Solar joined APA as EVP Worldwide Music in 2015 after 14 years with The Agency Group. He was promoted to Partner and Co-President of Worldwide Music in 2018 and became Solo President of Music in 2021. Solar Radical Face’s clients have included, EELS, Family of the Year, Blondie, Brian Wilson, Smokey Robinson, The Zombies, Cake, O’Jays, and Liz Brasher among others.
