Mariah Carey's “Birthday” tops the Hot 100 for the 14th week – Billboard

Mariah Carey's “All I Want for Christmas Is You” tops the Billboard Hot 100 for the second week in a row — marking a 14th week at No. 1, dating back to her first crown in December 2019.

Notably, the Modern Yuletide standard is Carey's third Hot 100 leader for at least 14 weeks — as she became the first artist in chart history with three such top spots. She previously had a 16-week reign with “One Sweet Day” with Boyz II Men in 1995-1996 and a 14-week reign with “We Belong Together” in 2005.

“Christmas” dominated the Hot 100 over five holiday seasons. It was originally released on Carey's album Merry Christmas In November 1994, as Broadcasting has grown Holiday music has become more prominent on streaming service playlists, reaching the top 10 for the first time in December 2017 and now topping the holidays in 2019 (for three weeks), 2020 (two weeks), 2021 (three weeks), 2022 (four) and 2023. (Two so far).

Elsewhere, José Feliciano's “Feliz Navidad” returns to the Hot 100, moving from No. 12 to No. 9.

In all, nine seasonal songs entered the Top 10 on the Hot 100 – the most in a single week; Nine Holiday Songs graced the tier for the first time on the chart dated January 2, 2021.

The Hot 100 combines all genres of US streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data, with the latter measure reflecting purchases of physical singles and digital tracks from full-service digital music retailers; Digital individual sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites are excluded from the chart calculations. Streams, broadcasts and sales: Carey's “Christmas”, on Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings, attracted 48.4 million streams (up 15%), 31.7 million radio audience impressions (up 21%) and 7,000 downloads sold (down 7%) in the US in the period From 15 to 21 December. According to Luminet.

The song remains at number two on the streaming songs chart, after 18 weeks at number one; fell 3-4 in digital song sales, after four frames at number one; It rose 22-17 on Radio Songs, reaching a season high of No. 11 last season.

Carey III has been a Hot 100 No. 1 for 14 weeks or more: Carey is the first artist to have three songs dominate the Hot 100 for 14 or more weeks each. It bests Boyz II Men, who had three leaders of 13 or more frames each, with Carey and the group teaming up for the 16-week No. 1 smash “One Sweet Day.”

Carey's record 93rd week atop the Hot 100: With “Christmas,” Carey added her record 93rd week at number one on the Hot 100, dating back to the chart's inception on August 4, 1958.

“Birthday” became Carey's 19th No. 1 hit on the Hot 100, the most among soloists and one shy of the Beatles' 20th overall record. It also made Carey the first artist to hold No. 1 on the chart in four distinct decades, making It dates back to its first week at the top in August 1990 with its debut single “Vision of Love”.

Holiday songs top the Hot 100: Now up to 14 weeks later, Carey's “Christmas” expands her mark as the holiday song with the most times atop the Hot 100, out of three such songs at No. 1. “The Chipmunks Song”, written by The Chipmunks with David Civil, spent four weeks at the top starting in December 1958, followed by Brenda Lee's two weeks at the top to start that holiday season with “Rockin'around the Christmas Tree”, also released in 1958.

No. 1 in a record 64th week on the Hot 100: Carey's “Christmas” rules the Hot 100 in its sixty-fourth week on the chart. It surpassed Glass Animals' “Heat Waves” for the most recent song, by total weeks on the chart, to top the chart. The latter completed a record 59-week journey to number one in March 2022 and reigned for five consecutive weeks during its 63rd frame. It went on to amass a record 91 weeks on the chart.

No. 1 in the Holiday 100: Additionally, Carey's “Christmas” simultaneously holds atop the multi-metric Holiday 100 chart, which uses the same methodology as the Hot 100. It tops the 60th week, out of a total of 67 weeks on the chart since the list's inception in 2011. It reigns as a top title in the compendium of the 100 Greatest Songs of All Time.

At No. 2 on the Hot 100, Lee's “Rockin'” added a fifth week atop Streaming Songs (49.4 million streams, up 17%, good for top Streaming Gainer awards on the Hot 100).

The rest of the top five on the Hot 100 throughout the holidays are still in place: Bobby Helms' “Jingle Bell Rock,” released in 1957, at No. 3; “Wham!” “Last Christmas” from 1984, at No. 4 at its best; and Burl Ives' “A Holly Jolly Christmas” from 1964, at No. 5 after reaching No. 4.

Jack Harlow's “Lovin On Me” remains at No. 6 on the Hot 100, four weeks after reaching No. 1 for the third time. The top-charting non-holiday title won an Airplay Gainer (50.2 million, up 16%) and claims a sixth week atop the multi-metric Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts.

Andy Williams' song “It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” from 1963 repeated at No. 7 on the Hot 100, after reaching No. 5. The late singer now has a record age of 64 years, two months and three weeks. From its first week in the top ten with “Lonely Street” in October 1959 to its last week in the category.

“Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!” soared. Dean Martin, From 1959, is up 10-8 on the Hot 100, returning to its 2020 holiday top-10 debut.

José Feliciano's “Feliz Navidad” returns to the Top 10 on the Hot 100, topping 12-9 with 24.9 million streams (up 19%), 23.8 million live viewers (up 5%), and 2,000 copies sold (up 12%). The 1970 classic reached a high of No. 6 during the 2020 holiday season.

The beloved 78-year-old artist was honored with first place painting Legend Award at the 2022 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Placing a bow on the Hot 100's top 10, The Ronettes' “Sleigh Ride” falls to No. 10 from its high of No. 8. The show now boasts a 60-year, three-month and one-week run in the top 10, dating back to its No. 2 peak of “Be My Baby” in September 1963 — the longest of the bunch. (Excluding holiday fare, the Beatles broke the record for the longest-running of the 10 songs last month: 59 years, nine months and three weeks, from 1964's “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” to their newly released debut single. ” Now and then.”)
