Google Gemini AI Plus Subscribers to Lose Access to Pro Models Starting November 13

Google Gemini AI Plus Subscribers to Lose Access to Pro Models Starting November 13

Google is preparing to remove access to its advanced Gemini Pro models from the Google AI Plus subscription tier beginning November 13, 2026. The change will limit subscribers on the $4.99-per-month plan to faster, lightweight AI models, creating a clearer distinction between Google’s lower-cost and premium artificial intelligence subscriptions.

Google Confirms Changes to Gemini AI Plus Subscription

Google has begun notifying Google AI Plus subscribers by email that their plans will no longer include access to Pro models in the Gemini app or AI Mode in Google Search.

The upcoming restrictions follow subscription changes announced earlier in October, shortly before Google introduced Gemini 4 Argon, its latest high-performance AI model.

Under the revised subscription structure, Gemini 4 Argon will be available to customers paying for Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra. Meanwhile, Google AI Plus subscribers will lose the ability to select Pro models entirely.

The adjustment represents a significant change for customers who previously used the lower-priced subscription to access more advanced AI capabilities without paying for a premium plan.

Gemini Pro Model Access Ends November 13, 2026

According to reports shared on Reddit, Google has started distributing emails confirming the November 13 deadline.

The notifications explain that Google AI Plus subscribers will retain access to the company’s Flash-Lite and Flash models, which are designed to deliver faster responses and handle everyday AI tasks.

What Google’s Email Says About the Changes

In its message to subscribers, the Google One team states:

We wanted to let you know about changes to the models that you can access with your Google AI Plus plan.

Starting on 13 November 2026, the ability to select Pro models in both the Gemini app and AI Mode in Google Search will only be available to Google AI Pro subscribers and above. You’ll still have access to our latest Flash-Lite model and Flash, built for speed and intelligence. Your previous chats using the Pro model can be continued with a different model.

To learn more about these changes, you can visit our Help Centre article for additional details. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time.

Thank you for being a Google AI Plus subscriber.

Additional Reddit users have reported receiving similar notifications, reinforcing November 13 as the scheduled implementation date.

Importantly, subscribers will not lose their previous conversations created with Pro models. Google says those chats can continue using another available model, although the underlying AI capabilities may differ.

Google AI Plus vs. AI Pro: What Subscribers Will Get

The subscription adjustment increases the differences between Google’s entry-level and higher-priced AI offerings.

Google AI Plus: $4.99 Per Month

Beginning November 13, the Google AI Plus subscription will provide access to two Gemini model options:

  • Flash-Lite, designed for lightweight AI interactions and quick responses.

  • Flash, intended to balance processing speed with broader AI capabilities.

Subscribers will no longer be able to select Gemini Pro models through the Gemini app or Google’s AI-powered Search experience.

Google AI Pro: $19.99 Per Month

The $19.99 monthly Google AI Pro subscription will continue offering access to more advanced models, including Gemini 4 Argon.

This creates a $15 monthly price difference between the two subscriptions, with access to higher-performance AI models becoming a key reason for customers to consider upgrading.

Google AI Ultra will also retain access to the company’s premium AI capabilities.

Free Gemini Plan Remains Available

Google is maintaining its free Gemini offering, allowing users who do not purchase a subscription to continue accessing Flash-Lite.

The company is therefore establishing a more distinct subscription structure, separating basic AI interactions from advanced model access.

For users primarily interested in quick answers, general information, and routine assistance, the lightweight models may continue to meet their needs.

However, customers who depend on more capable AI systems for complex tasks may need to evaluate whether the higher-priced subscription is worthwhile.

Changes Could Affect the Value of Google’s Lower-Cost AI Plan

Google AI Plus previously offered an attractive middle ground for customers seeking advanced AI features at a relatively affordable monthly price.

Removing Pro model access could reduce the plan’s appeal among users who subscribed specifically for more sophisticated AI capabilities.

Nevertheless, Google’s AI subscriptions extend beyond chatbot functionality. Depending on the plan, subscribers can receive additional benefits connected to Google services, including cloud storage and other bundled features.

Those benefits may remain important to customers who use Google’s broader ecosystem rather than relying exclusively on Gemini’s AI models.

Subscribers Can Manage or Cancel Their Plans

Google has informed affected customers that they can review, manage, or cancel their subscriptions at any time.

Subscribers who want to continue selecting Pro models after November 13 will need to move to Google AI Pro or a higher subscription tier.

Those who prefer to remain on AI Plus can continue using Flash and Flash-Lite without upgrading.

Google Moves Toward Clearer Gemini Subscription Tiers

Google’s decision marks a shift in how it distributes advanced Gemini capabilities across its paid subscription plans. Starting November 13, access to Pro models will become a premium feature, while the $4.99 monthly AI Plus plan will focus on faster, lightweight alternatives.

For existing subscribers, the main consideration will be whether the remaining AI features and bundled benefits justify keeping the lower-cost plan or whether access to advanced Gemini models makes an upgrade necessary.
