Neither Swedish police nor Stockholm authorities confirmed the death immediately.
The first video from the scene emerged shortly after the accident, showing most of the train’s cars still on the roller coaster tracks and even an adult man sitting on a metal pole that was part of the ride’s structure several meters off the ground, apparently awaiting rescue. .
Witnesses told Swedish media that part of the train derailed. Other passengers were stuck in their seats during the flight and had to wait to be ejected.
The hard-track roller coaster reaches speeds of up to 90 kilometers per hour (56 mph) and heights of 30 meters (about 100 feet), according to information on the Grona Lund website. More than a million people ride it every year.
