Madrid, June 20 (EFE).- The monarchs welcomed and surprised visitors to the Royal Palace at the start of the tour this Thursday, opening a photo exhibition in the building’s main gallery to mark the tenth anniversary. Proclamation of Philip VI.
After 11:30 a.m., the Royal Palace opened its doors free of charge to visitors during its ten-year reign and after Don Felipe and Doña Letizia, together with Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia, celebrated many events yesterday Wednesday. Anniversary.
The first group to enter the palace entered the Hall of Halberdiers, where the Kings made a surprise appearance to thirty people and greeted them before beginning their walk through the different halls.
“Where are you from?” asked the kings, there were tourists from different countries.
Chatted with them for a few minutes and took photos. “Enjoy your visit,” Philip VI greeted them as he said goodbye.
“I’m lost for words. A big surprise,” replied Fernando, a visitor to the Madrid municipality of Algarcón.
Before receiving tourists, the monarchs opened the ‘Philip VI 2014-2024’ exhibition. A Decade of History of the Crown organized by the Provincial Council of National Heritage and Grandeur in the main gallery of the palace.
The exhibition is made up of 23 photographs of different moments in the lives of the monarchs, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia over the past decade, mostly on loan from the King’s House, but also from the historical collections of the EFE agency and other media.
During the visit, the monarchs were accompanied by Minister of Education Pilar Alegría and curators of the exhibition, history and fine arts academics Enrique Moradillos and Pablo López Modejar.

The exhibition, coordinated with the visit of the Royal Palace, will be open to the public until October 20, and then, until the first half of 2025, can be seen in various cities such as Granada, Seville, Zaragoza, Malaga or Valencia. .
After the meeting with the tourists, the kings informally addressed the media and expressed their satisfaction over yesterday’s development.
Don Felipe admitted that he did not know about the surprise the princess and child gave their parents during the meal when they asked for a toast.
