Anker’s Qi2 chargers support 15W wireless charging on iPhone 13, 14, and 15

Apple did not respond to a request for comment, but this support will presumably extend to all Qi2 chargers. The only remaining problem is that although companies like Anker, Belkin, and Mophie announced Qi2-compatible devices a few months ago, there are no certified products available for purchase yet.

Third-party chargers that work with iPhones at the same rate as MagSafe technology is the way we hoped things would work, considering the updated Qi2 spec’s magnetic power profile brings magnets and authentication contributed by Apple. This will enable fast wireless chargers that you can use with both iPhones and, eventually, compatible Android devices. However, we’ve been asking about this for months, and other than a statement from Belkin about the iPhone 15, we haven’t been able to get definitive word one way or the other about the iPhone supporting maximum charging rates.

Anker spokeswoman Mary Woodbury confirmed in an email to the edge That, unlike older Qi products that were limited to half-speed charging of 7.5 watts with iPhones, the new MagGo products can support 15 watt charging, which is the same maximum rate you get with Apple-branded MagSafe equipment. There’s also no word on support for the iPhone 12 series (or iPhone 13 mini, which maxes out at 12W even when paired with MagSafe chargers), which should have compatible hardware but may require their own software updates.

Apple shipped the iOS 17.2 release candidate on Tuesday afternoon with a note that it added Qi2 compatibility for the iPhone 13 and 14 (iPhone 15 listed support for Qi2 at launch) without going into detail about how fast it will charge with non-rechargeable devices. – MagSafe devices.

When the new MagGo products were announced at the end of August, Anker didn’t list model numbers, pricing or release dates but said we could expect a new portable power bank with a kickstand, and new wireless charging station designs to charge your iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch All in one, a simple 15W charger and a 67W ball magnetic charging station for your desktop with 8-in-1 outlet.

We’ll wait for more details to see if any of them make the expected late 2023 launch window, and are keeping an eye on the Wireless Power Consortium’s Qi product database for any certifications.
