Rage Against the Machine were forced to cancel several dates of their reunion tour in 2022 after frontman Zach De La Rocha severed his left Achilles tendon, and no scheduled shows have been announced. The band's drummer Brad Wilke has now given fans some worrying news New statement. “I want to let you know that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom and I) will never tour or play live again,” he wrote. “I'm sorry to those of you who were waiting for this to happen. I really hope it does.” Pitchfork has reached out to the band's management for more information.
Wilke's statement today follows a March 2023 interview with Tom Morello, who was asked directly about the possibility of rescheduling Rage dates. He explained that the entire band would come together to make a statement. “If there are fury shows, if there are no fury shows, you will hear from the band,” Morello said. “I don't know. When there's news, it'll come from a group statement. There's no news.”
The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the ceremony in late 2023. Morello was the only member to attend, hinting in his speech that the other Rage members were not as enthusiastic about the induction as he was.
Rage Against the Machine first announced reunion tour dates in 2019, which were then postponed several times due to the pandemic. When the tour finally began in July 2022, de la Rocha suffered a leg injury that forced him to play Final cancellation of European and North American dates through 2023. Last year, the band's guitarist Tim Comerford revealed that he had been suffering from prostate cancer.
