Homeland: Kharak deserts It will be free on the Epic Games Store later this month. The well-received 2016 prequel to the 1999 real-time strategy classic home world arrive before Homeworld 3Due early next year, after several delays. (usually $50) Kharak deserts It will be available to claim on the Epic Store from August 24-31.
The 2016 game is set more than a century before the events of home world In the desert world of Kharak. The barren planet was home to the Kushan people, the protagonists of the original and central characters of the 1999 series. It’s the only installment in Homeworld that brings the action from space to Earth as you navigate the terrain to gain an advantage over Kiith Gaalsien. This cult-like faction believes that anyone who dreams of traveling to the stars deserves harsh punishment—something they’re only too happy to pass up. Its gameplay honors the series’ strategic roots while adapting the reduced action axes of playing on land by making elevation (navigating desert plateaus and valleys) a primary focus.
Ripping the game for free could give fans of the franchise something to push forward Homeworld 3 in February 2024 – and publisher Gearbox Software would certainly love to bring some younger gamers to the nearly quarter-century-old series.
The Homeworld series has ridden the IP roller coaster since the heyday of the RTS genre in the late 90s/early 2000s. After the game’s first critically acclaimed reception, original developer Relic Entertainment introduced two more (well received) games: an expansion and a proper sequel. However, after 2003 homeworld2THQ bought Relic and failed to produce a single Homeworld game under its ownership.
It was not until THQ folded that the chain received another lifetime lease and Gearbox Software won a 2013 auction to secure the rights to it. The Borderlands creator has revived the saga with remastered versions of classic titles. Kharak deserts This was followed soon after, and Homeworld 3 It was finally announced in 2019, using a crowdfunding campaign to raise money and gauge consumer interest. After several delays, the long-awaited third installment will (hopefully) arrive next winter.
Claiming the August 24-31 PC game requires an Epic Games account. During that time, you can go to a file Sahara Kharak store page in a browser or use the Epic Games Launcher to retrieve it.
