Memes circulated claiming that today – July 31, 2022 – is the birthday of the oblivious patriarch from the old cartoon “The Jetsons”.

Here’s how the math works: The show first aired in 1962, but is set 100 years in the future. That will be the year 2062.

During the first season of the show, George reveals that he is 40 years old. So 2062 minus 40, and there you are.

Snopes fact-checking site I looked at the claim He concluded that it was, in fact, a “reasonable estimate for the year of his birth.”

As for the exact day itself? Well, let’s just say there is a 1 in 365 chance that the memes are true. But hey, we already have talking clocks, vacuum cleaners, and flat screen TVs. Perhaps in a few decades we will also be able to choose our birthdays.
