iPhone 15 Pro Max may experience delays thanks to Sony’s failure to timely supply the image sensor component required for its flagship new periscope camera.
Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 15 lineup during its September event. The flagship product, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, may be delayed by a few weeks due to the image sensor component not being ready for its September launch.
according to a report from 9to5Mac With the information obtained from an unknown analyst note, Sony will not be able to provide the image sensor for the iPhone 15 Pro Max on time causing the October shipping date to be pushed back. The component is exclusive to the flagship model as it is the only one to get a new periscope camera.
This is the second analyst report in about a month that indicates supply chain issues may delay part of the iPhone 15 lineup to October. Such delays are unheard of, as Apple has delayed launches in recent years due to supply chain issues and COVID-related restrictions.
However, it is the first report that specifies the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Sony. Previously, a Bank of America report suggested that the iPhone 15 would be delayed to October without specifying a model, while Jeff Pu named the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus as potential delay targets in another note.
Apple hasn’t announced a date for its September iPhone event yet, but all eyes are on September 12th. The iPhone 15 and Apple Watch Series 9 lineup is expected to be present at the event.
