Wichita, Kansas (KSNW) — According to Union Machinist President Cornell Byrd, the Machinist Union has agreed to a four-year contract with Spirit AeroSystems.
the Second temporary contract It passed with 63% of the union members voting “yes”.
According to Spirit, Wichita plant restoration operations will begin Friday. Spirit says it will begin to resume full production Wednesday.
“We listened closely to our employees and made a fair and competitive bid,” said Spirit AeroSystems President and CEO Tom Gentile. “With approval from our staff representing IAM, we look forward to getting back to the important work of delivery
high quality products for our customers.”
Spirit says it will coordinate closely with its suppliers and customers during production restarts, and the company remains focused on safety and quality standards while ramping up production.
