Major video game cyber attacks have become quite regular in recent years and Bandai Namco appears to be the latest victim.
The ransomware suite “BlackCat” has added the Japanese publisher and developer – known for chains like backmanAnd the Dragon Ball And the elden ring – To the list of victims.
The group that monitors the malware’s source code online, known as “vx-underground,” was the first to find out and share the information on social media. The same source had previously reported about else Attacks – Like Nvidia before it was officially confirmed.
BlackCat has reportedly “intensified” ransomware attacks over the past year, and has previously shared private employee data online, when victims refuse to comply. This includes demands for millions of dollars. The extent of this latest incident is unknown at this point.
Some of the biggest attacks on video game companies in recent years include leaks from Nvidia, CD Projekt Red, EA, and fellow Japanese company Capcom – which saw a number of unannounced games revealed ahead of release.
