Ohio State coach Brian Hartline was taken to the hospital

Columbus, Ohio (WCMH) — Ohio State University offensive coordinator Brian Hartline was hospitalized after a crash early Sunday morning.

A hospital spokesperson said Hartline, 36, is being treated at Riverside Methodist Hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.

A spokesperson for the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. Sunday at the Hartline home near Powell. The spokesperson also confirmed that Hartline was the driver of the side-by-side UTV involved in the accident, which resulted in the vehicle rolling over.

The Ohio State Athletics Department said a second person, not affiliated with the university, was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Ohio State assistant football coach Brian Hartline and his friend, who are not affiliated with Ohio State, were taken to Riverside Hospital early this morning for non-life-threatening injuries he sustained in an ATV accident on his property. According to Hartline, he’s hoping to be released from the hospital later this evening.

Hartline was named offensive coordinator in January after serving as the team’s receivers coach since 2018. During his five years in the position, Hartline has recruited and developed the likes of Chris Olaf, Garrett Wilson, Paris Campbell, KJ Hill, Terry McLaurin, Jackson Smith- Ngegba and Marvin Harrison Jr.

Before becoming a coach, Hartline played for the Buckeyes from 2005 to 2008, playing seven seasons in the NFL, six with the Miami Dolphins and one with the Cleveland Browns. He returned to OSU in 2017 as a quality control coach.

On Saturday, the OSU football team held its annual spring game.
