After anticipating her potential arrival all week, Taylor Swift did not show her face at the Kansas City Chiefs-Minnesota Vikings game in Minneapolis on Sunday afternoon.
It was not known whether or not Swift would appear in Minnesota to continue her streak of attending Chiefs games.
However, after she was nowhere to be seen before kickoff in Minneapolis, NFL Network reporter Scott Hanson confirmed during Sunday’s game that the pop star was not in attendance.
Thousands of fans flocked to U.S. Bank Stadium to enjoy the Swift and Kelce craze that has swept the NFL in recent weeks.
It also appeared that TV producers for Sunday’s game were preparing for her arrival at the game, with a photo from Kansas City Star photographer Nick Wagner showing stickers reading “Ty” pinned above a certain bench.
The same posters were spotted next to Swift’s seat at Arrowhead as she watched Kelce and the Chiefs defeat the Bears last month — her first appearance supporting Kelce.
Last week, she also made a trip to MetLife Stadium to watch the Chiefs take on the New York Jets on Sunday Night Football.
With Swift in attendance, Kansas City won both games — moving to 3-1 on the season.
Despite her lack of attendance on Sunday, the Chiefs president denied that the singer-songwriter’s association with Kelce and Kansas City could have a negative impact on the team.
Mark Donovan has rejected claims that the attention Swift brings is a distraction for Kelce and the team, especially regarding the 34-year-old himself.
“Travis is a smart team player,” Donovan told People magazine. “He could handle it and was very professional.
“Our locker room has the maturity, leadership and respect to handle it.”
Kelce himself addressed the media on Friday and said he accepts the extra media attention surrounding him and the pop star.
“With all the attention, it’s like I was on top of the world after the Super Bowl and now I’m on top of the world now,” he said.
“You have a lot of people who care about Taylor, for good reason. I have to keep living, learning and enjoying the moments.
“We learn with photographers taking pictures everywhere but that comes with it.
I’ve always been very good at compartmentalizing and being able to stay focused in this building. I’ll keep it up, man.
Everyone enjoys it, whether I think they’re overdoing it or not. I know I brought this on myself and I’m lucky enough to enjoy it. All that really mattered was that he didn’t bother anyone, at least here.
