Jimmy Kimmel, More Late Night Hosts Ponder the End of the Actors’ Strike – Deadline

The end of an actors’ strike is the talk of the town, and Late Night is no exception.

“Thank you for joining us for Back to Work Day here in Hollywood,” Jimmy Kimmel said during his opening monologue. “Most film and television work has stopped since May.”

He continued: “The writers’ strike began in May. But after a long wait, the actor’s strike has finally ended. Many people have been affected. The Hallmark Channel immediately began filming all 1,200 Christmas movies this morning. A member of the negotiating committee said there were “tears of joy and joy” in the room after the deal was approved, and it only took a few takes. “It was very realistic.”

Jokes aside, Kimmel concluded, “Finally, actors can get back to their real jobs… which is… playing people with real jobs.”

SAG-AFTRA and the studios finally reached a tentative agreement on Wednesday, revitalizing Hollywood after a historically long hiatus. Judd Apatow and Sarah Silverman spoke about the 118-day effort during Thursday’s episode of the show Daily show.

Naturally, Silverman was curious about what Apatow had been doing since the writers went on strike in May.

“I was exercising and eating, and then I decided to eat and not exercise,” said Apatow, who attended the screening to promote his latest film. Please Don’t Destroy: Misty Mountain TreasureJokingly. “I want to get Ozempic, and I want to take it and prove that you can gain weight with it.”

He added that he also spent a lot of his time watching shows that he never had the opportunity to catch up on. “Then I said to myself: All of these things are terrible. We don’t deserve a raise.”

“Listen, you directors took the first thing I threw at you. That’s not my problem,” Silverman responded, taking a look at the DGA’s quick deal with AMPTP.

“That’s all we deserve,” Apatow joked back.

Jimmy Fallon also addressed the strike in his own monologue during it Tonight showHe joked that his guest list on Friday had changed to “everyone.” Then Najm interrupted his monologue Please do not destroyAnd Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Herlihy – who were at the screening a few days ago, but couldn’t talk about their new film.

After hijacking the monologue for more than a few references about the movie (did you know it’s coming out November 17 on Peacock?!), Fallon returned to his usual banter.

“When the actors heard that an agreement had been reached, they screamed, laughed and cried, and then said: ‘I also speak dialects,'” he said. “Seriously, the cast went back in time. I’m not sure the world can handle another reality dating show.”
