Flat edge, redesigned camera strap

Flat edge, redesigned camera strap

The first leak of the Pixel 9 Pro has been released, with renders showing a stark design departure from the Google phone we have today.

according to @onlex And My Smart PriceThe Pixel 9 Pro has flat edges that curve slightly into the screen and back panel. This is in stark contrast to the curved rail found on the Pixel 6-8 Pro.

The power button and volume rocker remain on the right edge, while Google appears to have moved the SIM tray to the bottom edge to the right of the USB-C port. There is a hole to the left of the connector, while there is nothing on the left edge. The top is home to a mmWave antenna cutout.

Meanwhile, the camera bar is clearly inspired by the Pixel Fold. It's a floating dial that's not attached to the left or right edge like on previous phones. The three cameras are placed side by side again and covered by a rectangular piece of glass. The end result is a bead on bead design with very small edges on the left side.

There are two circular notches next to the camera system, which has a prominent circle between the main wide and ultra-wide lenses. One is for the flash and the other appears to be a temperature sensor that Google kept from last year's Pro model.

The OnLeaks x MySmartPrice piece says the Pixel 9 Pro will have a 6.5-inch display that will be noticeably smaller than the 6.7-inch display found on the 8 Pro. This is despite the dimensions being relatively unchanged from last year in what may be a screen size error.

  • Pixel 9 Pro: 162.7 × 76.6 x 8.5mm (12.0mm camera bump)
  • Pixel 8 Pro: 162.6×76.5×8.8 millimeter

The phone's body is 0.3mm thinner. From viewing, the screen appears to be as flat as the 8 Pro, which has a slight curvature around the perimeter, if not flatter.

Compared to the 8 Pro render, the Pixel 9 Pro leak will come a couple of months earlier.

The design will no doubt draw comparisons to an iPhone, while it does remind me somewhat of a basic phone.
