Kate Middleton reappeared on Mother's Day in her first official public appearance since the princess's surgery weeks ago.

She appeared in a casual look next to her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, in a photo taken by Prince William on the occasion of Mother’s Day.

In the family photo, the Princess of Wales, 42, appears without her wedding ring or any other jewelry.

This is the first update from Kensington Palace since Kate's surgery. She thanked her supporters for wishing her recovery.

“Thank you for your well wishes and continued support over the past two months. Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day,” she wrote to fans, signing off with a “C” for Katherine.

C wore a denim jacket as she wrapped her arms around Charlotte, 8, and Louis, 5, on either side with George, 10, hugging mum from behind.

The mother-to-be took a break from the royal spotlight while recovering from her “planned abdominal surgery” on January 16.

Her last high-profile appearance was at Sandringham on Christmas Day, leading to much speculation during her absence over the past two months.

The procedure was deemed a success on January 29 when the Princess returned to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor and reunited with her children after two weeks of separation.

While the photo spread in the American media, Kensington Palace appealed to the British press to refrain from publishing the photo in order to preserve the privacy of the royal family.

Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace celebrated Mother's Day by sharing a photo of King Charles kissing the hand of his late mother Queen Elizabeth II, taken after a polo match in 1985.

“I wish all mothers and those who lost their mothers today a peaceful Mother’s Day,” the king’s message said.
