American pop star Lizzo assured her fans, in a post on social media, that she will not be leaving the spotlight any time soon.

“I quit,” the Grammy winner wrote last week, saying she was tired of being targeted for her appearance and personality online.

But she explained in a new video: “When I say ‘I quit’, I mean I stopped caring about any negative energy.”

The pop star built her reputation on body positivity, but was accused of body shaming one of her dancers.

The singer – whose real name is Melissa Vivian Jefferson – rejected this allegation, as well as other accusations she made last year in a lawsuit filed by her former dancers in which they accused her of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.

In the “I Quit” singer's Instagram post on March 30, she said she was “tired of having to endure being dragged around by everyone in my life and on the internet.”

The letter came just days after she performed in New York City in front of a crowd and three US presidents.

A lawyer representing the singer's former dancers criticized the decision to have Lizzo headline the event amid the accusations against her.

In a new video posted to Instagram on Tuesday, Lizzo sought to set the record straight.

“What I won't give up is the joy of my life, which is making music and connecting with people, because I know I'm not alone,” she said.

“Somehow, I'm not the only one who suffers from this negative voice that sounds louder than the positive voice.”
