OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) — An Oakland gas station manager expressed anger and frustration Friday after dozens of people looted his business overnight — and to make matters worse, he said police never showed up after he called for help.
It happened at the 76th Station on Hegenberger Road, near Interstate 880, a short distance from the airport.

It all started around 4:30 a.m. when a crowd of attendees of a nearby sideshow stormed the venue and began looting the place.
Station manager Sam Marday believes between 80 and 100 people took part in the demonstration – apparently unhappy that they were not allowed into the station and that service was only provided through windows, which is normal at that time of night.
Marday estimates the total damage and theft is more than $100,000.
We have reached out to Oakland Police for comment on Marday’s claims about the response, but have not yet received a response.

This is just the latest in a series of issues surrounding the Hegenberger Pass.
On Wednesday, police were out in large numbers after reports of a shooting at Chevron. SKY7 was monitoring the scene and spotted a car with its rear window shattered.
Of course, this is the same area where In-N-Out closed its doors in March due to ongoing crime — the first time the popular chain has closed its doors.
