As summer temperatures begin to rise, Dyson is introducing a portable take on one of its most recognizable products. The company has unveiled the HushJet Mini Cool, a handheld personal cooling fan that brings Dyson’s bladeless Air Multiplier technology into a compact, battery-powered form factor.
Dyson Shrinks Its Bladeless Fan Design Into a Portable Cooler
Nearly 17 years after debuting its Air Multiplier fans, Dyson has miniaturized the design for personal use. The new HushJet Mini Cool is designed as a handheld cooling device and features the same bladeless aesthetic found in Dyson’s larger fans, air purifiers, humidifiers, and heaters.
Like those products, the HushJet Mini Cool conceals all moving parts internally, eliminating exposed blades and reducing the risk of injury or snagging on clothing, hair, or jewelry. The handheld design mirrors the approach Dyson has used in its hair care lineup, including its Supersonic dryers.
Performance and Battery Life
The device is powered by a brushless 65,000-RPM DC motor capable of generating airflow speeds of up to 55 miles per hour, offering enough output to provide relief during hot weather.
Users can reduce the fan speed to conserve battery and lower noise levels. According to Dyson, the HushJet Mini Cool’s 5,000mAh rechargeable battery provides up to six hours of use on a full charge.
At its lowest setting, the fan produces 52 decibels of noise—comparable to a standard floor fan or home air conditioner. In Boost Mode, noise output increases to 72.5 decibels.
Compact Design Built for Hands-Free Cooling
The HushJet Mini Cool houses its motor, battery, and internal components inside a cylindrical body measuring 38 millimeters in diameter, making it slimmer than a typical energy drink can.
Adjustable Nozzle for Wearable Use
A rotating nozzle at the top of the device allows users to direct airflow upward or at an angle. This design enables the fan to be worn around the neck using an included lanyard, offering hands-free cooling while walking, commuting, or attending outdoor events.
Dyson says the nozzle’s shape is engineered to reduce higher-pitched sound frequencies, helping make the airflow quieter and more comfortable during extended use.
Price, Release Date, and Accessories
The Dyson HushJet Mini Cool launches April 9 in the United States for $99.
It will initially be available in a Stone/Blush colorway, with additional finishes scheduled to follow:
Upcoming Color Options
- Carnelian/Sky (Red): Available in May
- Ink/Cobalt (Blue): Available in June
Included Accessories at Launch

Dyson says more accessories will arrive later this summer, including:

Bottom Line
With the HushJet Mini Cool, Dyson is extending its signature bladeless fan technology into the growing market for portable personal cooling devices. The company is positioning the handheld fan as a premium option for consumers seeking relief from increasingly intense summer heat, particularly during travel, outdoor events, and daily commuting.
