PS5 Players Can Try New Action RPG Fading Echo for Free

PlayStation 5 owners have a new role-playing game to check out at no cost before deciding whether to buy. Developer Emeteria has released a free demo of Fading Echo through the PlayStation Store, giving PS5 players access without requiring a PlayStation Plus subscription.

The action-adventure RPG follows a young Legend named One as she explores a fractured world, combining elemental abilities, combat, puzzles and reality-shifting mechanics.

Fading Echo Demo Now Available on PS5

The Fading Echo demo is available to PS5 users through the PlayStation Store. Unlike some benefits tied to Sony’s subscription services, access to the demo does not require a PlayStation Plus membership.

Emeteria describes the title as a “fast-paced elemental action-adventure RPG,” with gameplay centered on manipulating the environment and experimenting with different powers.

The game takes place in Corel, a fractured world threatened by a mysterious force known as the Paradox. Players control One, a young Legend attempting to protect the world while uncovering details about her own past.

Elemental Powers Drive Combat and Exploration

“In Fading Echo, you play as One, a young Legend fighting to save Corel, a fractured world being consumed by a mysterious force known as the Paradox,” the studio wrote on the PS Blog. “To survive, you’ll experiment with One’s powers, manipulate the elements around you, and shift between realities to find new ways through combat, exploration, and puzzles.”

Those elemental mechanics play a central role throughout the adventure. Players can weaponize water and interact with environmental hazards and materials, including lava and toxic waste.

Rather than limiting those abilities to combat encounters, the game incorporates them into exploration and puzzle-solving. Reality-shifting mechanics also provide different approaches to navigating Corel and dealing with obstacles.

Fading Echo Priced at $19.99 on PlayStation Store

For players who want to continue beyond the free demo, Fading Echo is priced at $19.99 on the PlayStation Store.

Early player response has been positive overall, though Steam users have given the game a higher rating than PS5 players.

The free PS5 demo gives players an opportunity to test the game’s combat, elemental mechanics and overall approach before purchasing the full release.

PlayStation Plus Premium Adds Cloud Streaming

While PlayStation Plus is not required to download and play the demo, the subscription service offers an additional option for certain users.
