Tuesday’s big Gamescom kick-off show was briefly disrupted by a stage invasion.
Gamescom Opening Night Live host and producer Jeff Kelly was interrupted when the man in question approached him early in the show.
“Bill Clinton wants to play GTA 6,” the stage invader seemed to repeat several times before security removed him.
This was apparently a reference to Matan Evin, aka Bill Clinton’s Kid, who was arrested after he stormed the stage at last year’s Game Awards (one of Kelly’s productions) during Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Game of the Year acceptance speech.
“It’s very disappointing,” Kelly said after invading the stage on Tuesday. “It’s a special night for a lot of developers, and it’s really disappointing to see someone act this way.”
He added, “It’s very sad for me to see something like this happen on a night we’re here to celebrate the games and this community and how important they are to us.”
Although this person is unconfirmed, it could be the same person who earlier this week stormed a German soccer TV show to talk about Grand Theft Auto – which he also did during a game show two years ago. dexerto reports.
Keighley later announced that this year’s Game Awards would take place on 7 December.
In one of the gaming industry’s most notable data leaks, more than an hour of GTA 6 development footage was released online last September, giving gamers their first look at the sequel to one of the best-selling games of all time.
The leaked footage featured open-world gameplay from the alpha version of GTA 6, and appears to confirm an earlier report claiming that the game will be set in Vice City and feature a female protagonist.
Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two has predicted a sharp jump in sales during its next fiscal year starting in April 2024, driven by the release of “several flagship titles”, leading to speculation that GTA 6 could be launched during this period.
