Braves lineup Michael Harris scratched a bruise on the right foot

Michael Harris II was scraped from the lineup Sunday with a right foot bruise after he fouled a ball off his foot in Saturday’s win over the Giants.

The Braves said Harris is a day to day.

In the bottom of the third inning on Saturday, Harris fouled Logan Webb’s 89-mph changeup off his right foot. He immediately appeared to be in pain as he strolled in front of home plate.

With that, Harris played the rest of the game.

Harris was originally in the lineup on Sunday, finishing second and playing center. Instead, left fielder Eddie Rosario was in the two holes in the lineup on Sunday. Kevin Pillar was pitching center field and batting at seventh.

The Braves have a deep lineup. They could afford to lose Harris for a few days, if the injury wasn’t serious.

But this is unfortunate timing for Harris. There’s never a right time to get hurt, but Harris has been on fire for the past two months.

Since his three-hit game against the Mets on June 7, he hits .356 with .956 OPS over 62 games played. He has 15 doubles, three triples, nine home runs and 29 RBIs during that span.

Naturally, Harris is one of baseball’s best center field defenders. He can reach almost any ball, and possesses the athletic strength to finish plays.
