When will Jonathan Taylor play again? (For which team?)

The 2023 regular season begins with Colts running back Jonathan Taylor on the reserve/physically unable to perform list. The rankings keep him out for at least four games.

so what?

According to multiple reports, Taylor can pass the physical and play now. (The Colts would say Taylor could have been out for weeks physical, and that the claims of pain in his ankle were intended to exert leverage.)

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Trade Talks It will likely be resumed once Taylor is able to return. The Packers, who had explored the potential trade, are now out. The Dolphins, who have spoken to the Colts about a potential trade, could be in the mix.

Other teams may participate. Injuries can generate interest. Ultimately, the question becomes whether the Colts will be reasonable in their demands.

The news that they have asked the Dolphins for a package that includes receiver Jaylen Waddle suggests that the Colts have not been reasonable. If the Colts don’t consider Taylor someone worthy of a high-end deal, they shouldn’t demand high-end compensation for him.

Another wrinkle is Taylor’s financial outlook. Will someone pay what they want? Will he take less than he wants to get out of Indianapolis?

The Colts could have kicked the can for the remainder of the season, tagging Taylor and trading him at that point. If that happens, will Taylor play for the Colts this season? If he doesn’t play at all this year, how attractive will he be in 2024?

Currently, this action will occur before the Tuesday after Week 8, that is, if the deadline is 2023 for any and all trades.
