Joe Burrow got advice from Aaron Rodgers on dealing with an injured calf

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Joe Burrow spoke last week, with the four-time MVP offering advice to the Bengals quarterback about dealing with a calf injury. Burrow injured his right calf on the second day of training camp and it worsened in Week 2 but he played through it Monday night.

“He has dealt with calf issues throughout his career and… [I] “He wanted to use him as a resource and get his ideas and what he could have done,” Burrow said, via Ben Baby of ESPN. “He’s been through it, I did that. And he was great at it.

During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday, Rodgers discussed the difficulty of playing with a calf injury and the toughness it takes.

“For him to be able to get through it, I don’t think people realize the amount of pain and limited mobility he was in,” Rodgers said. “But for him to get rid of it.” . . And making enough plays to win, she wrote to him, is what great competitors do. They show up and play through the pain and don’t make it a big deal.

Burrow was experiencing expected pain on Tuesday, but said he felt better on Wednesday.

He was graded as a full participant after taking all the first team shots in the walkthrough.

“I’m going to get better every week because I haven’t had a setback, so to come out of Monday without a setback was big,” Burrow said. “That means it will be stronger this week. If I get through this week without any setbacks, it will be stronger next week. So, all you can do is rest and take some time. But I will keep playing and training and I will get stronger over the year.”

Smiling, Burrow did not go into detail about the advice Rodgers gave him.

“[I’m] “I will continue to use that as a resource,” Burrow said. He is a great man. When you have a guy like that willing to help, you’ll use him.
