Jane’s Addiction has issued an update after band leader Perry Farrell allegedly punched guitarist Dave Navarro on stage.

After the onstage explosion when Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell punched guitarist Dave Navarro, the rock band spoke out and gave an update.

“We want to extend our sincere apologies to our fans for the events that took place last night, and as a result, we will be canceling our scheduled show in Bridgeport tomorrow,” the band wrote in a statement posted to its Instagram account.

The band assured fans that refunds would be provided at the point of purchase, but did not provide any further details about the puzzling incident.

A video circulating on social media shows Pharrell violently bumping into Navarro during their performance of their song “Ocean Size” at Lender Pavilion in Boston on Friday night. Pharrell angrily yells at his bandmate while Navarro tries to push his lead singer away, creating a barrier between them with his arm.

Before crew members could separate the musicians, Pharrell punched Navarro. He was restrained, though Pharrell fought back before being removed from the stage.

The place went dark and the show suddenly ended.

The morning after the fight, Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau, provided details about what she believes happened.

“There was clearly a lot of tension and animosity between the members… the magic that made the band so dynamic. Well, the dynamite was lit. Perry got in Dave’s face and body-slammed him,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Berry’s frustration was growing, night after night. He felt that the stage was too loud and the band was drowning out his own. Berry suffered from tinnitus and a sore throat every night. But when the audience in the front row started complaining to Berry, swearing at him because the band was [playing] “His voice was so loud they couldn’t hear him, so Perry lost his temper.”

Etty Lau, also a musician and actress, claims the band started singing “Ocean Size” before Pharrell was ready, and that her husband “couldn’t hear anything more than the noise and vibration of the instruments, and by the end of the song, he wasn’t singing, he was just screaming…to be heard.”

She wrote that guitarist Eric Avery “won the fight.”

“As Dave tried to get Perry off stage to defuse the situation, Dan rushed to defuse the situation as well by getting Perry off. Dave stepped away to grab his guitar. Eric walked up to Perry, in the dark behind Dan, put Perry in a holding position and punched him in the stomach three times. Kevin, a long-haired crew member, pulled Eric away. Eric then nonchalantly walked to the front of the stage to apologize to the crowd for ending the show early.”

Dave “looked so handsome and calm in the middle of the fight,” Lau said, while her husband “was a crazy beast for the next half hour.”

“He didn’t calm down in the end, he just broke down and cried and cried. Eric, well, either he didn’t understand what happened [deescalation] “I either took advantage of the situation or I took some cheap shots at Perry. Well, that’s my personal version of what happened. Check out the video for yourself,” she concluded.

Although Jane’s Addiction’s show in Connecticut has been cancelled this evening, there’s no word on the status of their show in Toronto on Wednesday.

A representative for the band did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
