Two popular festivals were closed for the weekend due to the effects of weather and have now reopened. A powerful line of thunderstorms is moving across the New Orleans metro area, bringing rain. The French Quarter Festival and the Pontchatoola Strawberry Festival are both temporarily closed until the weather passes. The Strawberry Festival announced that it will reopen its gates at 2 pm in the French Quarter Festival announced the reopening of the gates, stages, booths and activation will resume from 3 pm on a case-by-case basis.
