ATLANTA — A group of bees delayed a Delta flight from Houston to Atlanta by three hours Wednesday afternoon.

Atlanta-based Delta Airlines confirmed Channel 2 Action News A group of bees gathered on the wing of the plane, causing a delay.

“Stop it or not, Delta Flight 1682 May 3 from Houston Bush to Atlanta was delayed after a friendly group of bees wanted to talk to the wing of one of our planes, no doubt to share the latest news about flight conditions at the airport,” Delta said in a statement to Channel 2 Action News.

A viral Twitter thread by AnjaliEnjeti documented all the drama by live-tweeting the ordeal:

Delta said the delay was to ensure the surfaces of our planes were not contaminated during departure.

And airport officials were able to use ground equipment to keep the bees away from the wing, according to Delta. In the end, this method worked.
