Russian authorities on Monday arrested Vladimir Kara-Murza, a prominent Kremlin critic and politician, who wrote columns for the Washington Post protesting the Russian war in Ukraine and human rights abuses.

He played a key role in adopting sanctions against Russian human rights violators in the United States, the European Union, Canada and Britain.
